At Summit Phone Repair, ensuring the integrity of every transaction is a top priority. As part of our Online Buyback service, all devices undergo a thorough IMEI check conducted by a trusted third-party representative. Here’s what you need to know about the process:
The IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number is a unique identifier assigned to every mobile device. This number helps verify that a device is legitimate and not associated with issues such as being reported lost, stolen, or locked. During the inspection process, we use the IMEI to:
Confirm that the device is not flagged as lost or stolen.
Ensure the device is not carrier-locked or blacklisted.
Check for active security features, such as Find My iPhone, which must be deactivated before the transaction can proceed.
Important: If a device is flagged as lost or stolen during the IMEI check, local authorities will be contacted, and the device will be surrendered based on their recommendations. Do not attempt to provide us with a stolen device.
If any issues are detected during the IMEI check, we will notify you immediately and discuss the next steps. Devices flagged with these concerns cannot be processed for payout until the issues are resolved.
To help ensure a smooth transaction, we recommend confirming that:
Find My iPhone or any similar anti-theft feature is turned off.
The device is not reported as lost or stolen with your carrier.
